R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A life dedicated to the service of his nation has
  drawn to a close with the death of retired U.S. Air Force Lieutenant
  Colonel Gus E. Myers on January 25, 2021, at the age of 83; and
         WHEREAS, Born in Windsor, Illinois, on August 16, 1937, to
  Harry and Mary Myers, Gus Myers served in the U.S. Navy for four
  years before completing a degree in physics at Eastern Illinois
  University; he subsequently joined the U.S. Air Force and trained
  as a pilot at Webb Air Force Base in Big Spring, Texas; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Myers served a tour of duty in Vietnam, after
  which he continued his education at the University of Arizona,
  where he earned a master's degree in nuclear engineering; he went on
  to teach at the U.S. Air Force Academy before retiring from the air
  force in 1982; in civilian life, he worked as director of risk
  management services at the University of North Texas until his
  retirement in December 2005; and
         WHEREAS, Deeply dedicated to his family, his faith, and his
  nation, Gus Myers earned the lasting respect and admiration of all
  who were privileged to know him; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Lieutenant Colonel
  Gus E. Myers and extend heartfelt sympathy to the members of his
  family: to his wife, Kathryn Myers; to his children, Christopher
  Myers and his wife, Randi, Heidi Collins, and Stacey Paul and her
  husband, Scott; to his seven grandchildren and three
  great-grandsons; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Gus E.
  Myers.
