R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A full and productive life drew to a close with the
  passing of former state representative Robert Lewis Fairchild of
  Center on December 1, 2019, at the age of 90; and
         WHEREAS, The son of Robert Carl Fairchild and Anna Dagma
  Lewis Fairchild, Bob Fairchild was born in Beaumont on January 31,
  1929, and grew up in Chester; he completed both his bachelor's
  degree in business administration and his law degree at The
  University of Texas at Austin; in 1953, he co-founded the Center law
  firm known today as Fairchild, Price, Haley & Smith; he was admitted
  to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court and Fifth Circuit Court of
  Appeals, among other venues; dedicated to his profession, he served
  as president of the Shelby County Bar Association, and he was a
  member of the East Texas Chapter of the American Board of Trial
  Advocates and a Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation; in 1994, he
  retired from his practice, and nine years later, he was honored by
  the State Bar for 50 years of service to the organization; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Fairchild served in the Texas House from 1961 to
  1965; during his tenure, he chaired both the General Investigating
  and Judicial Districts Committees, and he was a member of a number
  of other committees; he further benefited his fellow citizens as
  president of the Shelby County Chamber of Commerce, and he helped
  organize Little League baseball in his community; a deacon of First
  Baptist Church since 1979, he taught the Fellowship Class for many
  years as well; and
         WHEREAS, Devoted to his family, Mr. Fairchild shared a
  fulfilling marriage with his wife, Patsy; they were the parents of
  four children, Robert, Jan Ellen, David, and Karla, and they were
  blessed with six grandchildren, Carrie, RC, Philip, Matt, Britney,
  and Eric, as well as numerous great-grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, Although Bob Fairchild is deeply missed, he left
  behind a legacy that will long be treasured by all those who held
  him dear; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Robert Lewis
  Fairchild and extend sincere condolences to his loved ones; and, be
  it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of the
  Honorable Robert Lewis Fairchild.
