H.R. No. 219
 
 
 
R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Family and friends will long cherish their memories
  of Robert Avitua of Robstown, who passed away on January 7, 2021, at
  the age of 81; and
         WHEREAS, Robert Avitua was born to Severo Avitua and
  Guadalupe Torres on November 19, 1939, in Corpus Christi, and he
  grew up with five siblings, Jesse, Michael, Eva, Gloria, and Jo Ann;
  and
         WHEREAS, Answering his nation's call to duty, Mr. Avitua
  proudly served with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, and he
  went on to a long career at the Corpus Christi Army Depot, where he
  retired in 1993 after 29 years; a talented musician, particularly
  on the accordion, he played regularly with bands in the area; and
         WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Avitua enjoyed the love
  and support of his wife of 53 years, Maria, and he took great pride
  in his children, Robert, Debra, and Velma; with the passing years,
  he had the pleasure of seeing his family grow to include five
  grandchildren, Hailie, Juan, Monica, Serena, and HeavenLee, and
  three great-grandchildren, Aiden, Ethan, and Sophia; and
         WHEREAS, Those who were privileged enough to share in this
  esteemed man's love and friendship will always remember him with
  great tenderness and affection; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Robert Avitua and
  extend heartfelt sympathy to his family and friends; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Robert
  Avitua.
