R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Family and friends will long cherish their memories |
|
of Robert Avitua of Robstown, who passed away on January 7, 2021, at |
|
the age of 81; and |
|
WHEREAS, Robert Avitua was born to Severo Avitua and |
|
Guadalupe Torres on November 19, 1939, in Corpus Christi, and he |
|
grew up with five siblings, Jesse, Michael, Eva, Gloria, and Jo Ann; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Answering his nation's call to duty, Mr. Avitua |
|
proudly served with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, and he |
|
went on to a long career at the Corpus Christi Army Depot, where he |
|
retired in 1993 after 29 years; a talented musician, particularly |
|
on the accordion, he played regularly with bands in the area; and |
|
WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Avitua enjoyed the love |
|
and support of his wife of 53 years, Maria, and he took great pride |
|
in his children, Robert, Debra, and Velma; with the passing years, |
|
he had the pleasure of seeing his family grow to include five |
|
grandchildren, Hailie, Juan, Monica, Serena, and HeavenLee, and |
|
three great-grandchildren, Aiden, Ethan, and Sophia; and |
|
WHEREAS, Those who were privileged enough to share in this |
|
esteemed man's love and friendship will always remember him with |
|
great tenderness and affection; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Robert Avitua and |
|
extend heartfelt sympathy to his family and friends; and, be it |
|
further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Robert |
|
Avitua. |
