R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Kasey Jobe, a student at Stephen F. Austin State |
|
University, was selected to present his research at the 2021 Texas |
|
Undergraduate Research Day on February 23 and 24; and |
|
WHEREAS, Each biennium, outstanding students from colleges |
|
and universities throughout the state showcase their research for |
|
legislators and the public on Texas Undergraduate Research Day; |
|
coordinated by the Council of Public University Presidents and |
|
Chancellors and the Independent Colleges and Universities of Texas, |
|
Inc., this year's event was held virtually; and |
|
WHEREAS, A student of biology and forestry at SFA, Mr. Jobe |
|
studies the ways in which erosion control blankets used at |
|
construction sites affect snake species; he has found that some |
|
types of erosion control blankets are more hazardous to snakes and |
|
that burying the edges of the blankets significantly reduces the |
|
instances of snake entanglement and mortality; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Jobe has coauthored three peer-reviewed |
|
scientific papers on snake entanglement research conducted at SFA, |
|
and the findings were presented to the Texas Department of |
|
Transportation, which provided funding for the project; and |
|
WHEREAS, Kasey Jobe has distinguished himself as a dynamic |
|
young leader in an important field of study, and his |
|
accomplishments are a source of great pride to Stephen F. Austin |
|
State University; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Kasey Jobe on his selection to |
|
participate in the 2021 Texas Undergraduate Research Day and extend |
|
to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Jobe as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
