R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately express the sorrow felt by |
|
the family, friends, and colleagues of U.S. Border Patrol Agent |
|
Agustin Aguilar Jr., who passed away on July 25, 2020, at the age of |
|
45; and |
|
WHEREAS, Affectionately known as "Augi," Agustin Aguilar Jr. |
|
was born to Agustin and Maria Aguilar in Lufkin on September 13, |
|
1974; he grew up with 10 younger siblings, Luis, Samantha, Juan |
|
Carlos, Cesar, Jose, Eduardo, Ricardo, Maria, Teresa, and |
|
Bethzabeth, and from an early age, he learned the value of hard work |
|
and community service from his parents; following his graduation |
|
from Lufkin High School in 1993, he went on to earn a criminal |
|
justice degree from The University of Texas-Pan American in |
|
Edinburg; and |
|
WHEREAS, In April 2001, Mr. Aguilar embarked on an exemplary |
|
career as a U.S. Customs and Border Protection agent that would span |
|
nearly two decades; he most recently worked as a K-9 instructor and |
|
handler at the CBP Eagle Pass South Station in the Del Rio Sector, |
|
and he performed his duties with the utmost professionalism, |
|
diligence, and bravery over the course of his tenure with the law |
|
enforcement agency; and |
|
WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Agent Aguilar enjoyed the love |
|
and support of his wife of 14 years, Cecilia; he was the devoted |
|
father of three children, Brandon, Agustin, and Victoria, and he |
|
cherished time spent with his extended family, including his many |
|
nieces and nephews; passionate about community engagement, he was |
|
involved with numerous church organizations, coached youth sports |
|
teams, and served as a cubmaster and a scoutmaster; moreover, he was |
|
an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and worked on muscle cars in his leisure |
|
time; and |
|
WHEREAS, Agustin Aguilar made a meaningful difference in the |
|
lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him, and he leaves |
|
behind a record of service that his loved ones can remember with |
|
pride; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of U.S. Border Patrol |
|
Agent Agustin Aguilar Jr. and extend deepest condolences to all who |
|
mourn his passing; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Agustin |
|
Aguilar. |
