R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Joe Olvera, lead custodian at William B. Travis
  Academy in Dallas, demonstrated exceptional dedication to the
  school during the February 2021 winter storm; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Olvera has been a valued member of the staff at
  William B. Travis, a Dallas ISD magnet school for gifted and
  talented students, for 21 years; as the community was beset with an
  unprecedented bout of subfreezing weather, he went to the campus to
  keep watch over it in the frigid temperatures; and
         WHEREAS, Camping overnight in the more than half-century-old
  building, Mr. Olvera slept on an air mattress and brought along
  space heaters to keep himself warm; he made regular rounds of the
  building, monitoring the water pipes and repairing a number of
  small leaks, and thanks to his vigilance, the school was able to
  survive the historic weather event with minimal issues; and
         WHEREAS, Although Joe Olvera's commitment to his work as a
  custodian is well-known among the students, staff, and teachers of
  William B. Travis, he demonstrated a remarkable willingness to go
  above and beyond to safeguard the school at a challenging time for
  the community, and he is deserving of special praise for his
  actions; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
  Legislature hereby commend custodian Joe Olvera for watching over
  William B. Travis Academy in Dallas during the February 2021 winter
  storm and extend to him sincere appreciation for his efforts; and,
  be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Olvera as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
