H.R. No. 502
 
 
 
R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Members of the Polk County Sheriff's Office are
  mourning the death of retired K-9 deputy Alukar on March 15, 2021;
  and
         WHEREAS, Born in October 2006, "Aluka" received his initial
  training in New Mexico and went on to complete specialized law
  enforcement training through K-9 Concepts in Broussard, Louisiana;
  and
         WHEREAS, Aluka joined the Polk County Sheriff's Office as a
  drug detector and criminal apprehension K-9 in 2008, and under the
  guidance of his handlers, he served with the department for more
  than a decade; during that time, he also attended a K-9 training
  seminar in Louisiana, where he and his handler placed second in a
  national K-9 competition; and
         WHEREAS, Having retired in 2019, Aluka was adopted by his
  final handler, Detective Victor White, and he lived out the rest of
  his days loved and cared for by the officer and his family; and
         WHEREAS, Although his death has brought great sadness to
  many, Aluka will forever be remembered for the courage and
  enthusiasm with which he performed his duties as well as for the
  special camaraderie he shared with his handler and colleagues; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
  Legislature hereby honor the service of K-9 deputy Alukar of the
  Polk County Sheriff's Office.
