R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Members of the Polk County Sheriff's Office are |
|
mourning the death of retired K-9 deputy Alukar on March 15, 2021; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Born in October 2006, "Aluka" received his initial |
|
training in New Mexico and went on to complete specialized law |
|
enforcement training through K-9 Concepts in Broussard, Louisiana; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Aluka joined the Polk County Sheriff's Office as a |
|
drug detector and criminal apprehension K-9 in 2008, and under the |
|
guidance of his handlers, he served with the department for more |
|
than a decade; during that time, he also attended a K-9 training |
|
seminar in Louisiana, where he and his handler placed second in a |
|
national K-9 competition; and |
|
WHEREAS, Having retired in 2019, Aluka was adopted by his |
|
final handler, Detective Victor White, and he lived out the rest of |
|
his days loved and cared for by the officer and his family; and |
|
WHEREAS, Although his death has brought great sadness to |
|
many, Aluka will forever be remembered for the courage and |
|
enthusiasm with which he performed his duties as well as for the |
|
special camaraderie he shared with his handler and colleagues; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby honor the service of K-9 deputy Alukar of the |
|
Polk County Sheriff's Office. |
