R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Countless lives were touched by the kindness and
  generosity of Raymond Odell Johnson of Temple, who passed away on
  February 25, 2021, at the age of 97; and
         WHEREAS, Born on January 14, 1924, to Nobel and Roberta
  Johnson, Raymond Johnson grew up during the Great Depression with
  the companionship of a younger brother, and he completed a tour with
  the U.S. Navy during World War II; and
         WHEREAS, A man of deep faith, Mr. Johnson served as a deacon
  of Immanuel Baptist Church for many years, and he gave generously of
  his time and talents to the church nursery, Sunday school, and
  vacation Bible school; moreover, he had the pleasure of traveling
  to Jerusalem with other members of his church; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Johnson shared a loving marriage with his wife,
  Melba, that spanned more than six decades, until her passing in
  2008; he was the proud father of two children, Melvin and Ramalou,
  and he cherished time spent with his eight grandchildren, Phillip,
  Patrick, Whitney, Tyler, Kyle, Emily, Alan, and Travis, and 11
  great-grandchildren; in his leisure hours, he enjoyed farming,
  baking, hunting, and cheering on his grandchildren's sports teams;
  and
         WHEREAS, Raymond Johnson lived a rich and purposeful life
  centered around his family and his faith, and he will forever be
  remembered with deep admiration and affection by all who were
  privileged to know him; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
  Legislature hereby honor the memory of Raymond Odell Johnson and
  extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his son,
  Melvin Johnson, and his wife, Beki; to his daughter, Ramalou
  Prince, and her husband, Tim; to his grandchildren, Phillip,
  Patrick and his wife, Rachel, Whitney and her husband, Eric, Tyler
  and his fiancée, Malory, Kyle and his fiancée, Katie, Emily and her
  husband, Jeryd, Alan and his fiancée, Sydney, and Travis; to his
  great-grandchildren; and to his many other relatives and friends;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Raymond
  Johnson.
