R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the
  passing of Albert Gallatin Hood Jr. of Leakey on March 16, 2020, at
  the age of 92; and
         WHEREAS, Born in Weslaco on June 1, 1927, to Albert and Maria
  Hood, A. G. Hood grew up with the companionship of three sisters,
  Marie, Aurelia, and Eva; at the age of 17, he joined the U.S. Navy
  and was assigned to the fleet that entered Tokyo Bay during the
  signing of the treaty that ended World War II; he went on to
  graduate from high school in Mission before attending Pan American
  College; along the way, he worked for the Valley Evening Monitor
  newspaper, and he served in the Navy Reserve; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Hood enjoyed a rewarding career as a South Texas
  sales representative with the Colgate-Palmolive Company that
  spanned 36 years until his retirement in 1989; among his many
  achievements, he was inducted into the company's Hall of Fame in New
  York City; and
         WHEREAS, Highly dedicated to his community, Mr. Hood was a
  longtime member of the Leakey Lions Club, a Boy Scout troop leader,
  a coach for local youth baseball teams, and a cast member of the
  Frio Canyon Players; he also gave generously of his time and talents
  to the Frio Canyon Parks Association, the Big Springs Auxiliary for
  Children, and the Big Springs Youth Ranch Thrift Store; a man of
  deep faith, he was a valued congregant of Leakey United Methodist
  Church; and
         WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Hood benefited from the
  love and support of his wife, Rita, with whom he shared a fulfilling
  marriage of more than six and a half decades; he took great pride in
  his three sons, Kelly, Tracy, and Randy, and with the passing years,
  he had the pleasure of seeing his family grow to include seven
  grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, Those fortunate enough to have known A. G. Hood will
  remember the way he touched their lives with his kindness,
  integrity, and delightful sense of humor, and he will forever hold a
  special place in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Albert Gallatin
  Hood Jr. and extend sincere sympathy to his loved ones; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of A. G. Hood.
