R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, A life made rich through meaningful service drew to |
|
a close with the passing of Frank Salas Lazarte Jr. of Corpus |
|
Christi on February 4, 2021, at the age of 95; and |
|
WHEREAS, Frank S. Lazarte Jr. was born on November 5, 1925, to |
|
Francisco and Stella Lazarte; he grew up with three siblings, Mary, |
|
Ramona, and Nick, and he graduated from Corpus Christi High School |
|
in 1944; he served with the U.S. Army during World War II as a |
|
paratrooper and a radio operator for the 152nd Airborne |
|
Anti-Aircraft Battalion, 11th Airborne Division in the Pacific |
|
Theater; he also belonged to the 82nd Airborne Division; among his |
|
awards, he received the World War II Victory Medal, the Army of |
|
Occupation Medal, and an Overseas Service Bar, and he attained the |
|
rank of sergeant; and |
|
WHEREAS, Following his honorable discharge from the military |
|
in December 1946, Mr. Lazarte embarked on a career with the Corpus |
|
Christi Army Depot that spanned from 1947 until his retirement in |
|
1981; he went on to work for the City of Corpus Christi Gas |
|
Department, and he held a number of other jobs before retiring for a |
|
second time in 1990; and |
|
WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Lazarte enjoyed the love |
|
and support of his wife, Alice, with whom he shared a rewarding |
|
marriage that spanned more than seven decades; he took great pride |
|
in his 4 children, Michael, Richard, Debra, and Frank, and he had |
|
the pleasure of welcoming 9 grandchildren and 13 |
|
great-grandchildren into his treasured family; he was actively |
|
involved in his children's and grandchildren's lives and attended |
|
many of their recitals and sports events; moreover, he loved music |
|
and delighted in traveling and dancing with his wife; and |
|
WHEREAS, Although he is deeply missed, Frank S. Lazarte Jr. |
|
was an inspiration to all who were privileged to know him, and they |
|
will forever hold him close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Frank Salas Lazarte |
|
Jr. and extend deepest condolences to his relatives and friends; |
|
and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Frank S. |
