R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Each May, many South Texas residents and visitors |
|
|
gather together for the City of Alamo Watermelon Festival and BBQ |
|
|
Cook-off; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A Champions Barbecue Alliance sanctioned cook-off, |
|
|
this much-anticipated event features talented local pit masters who |
|
|
put their culinary skills to the test as they vie to produce the |
|
|
tastiest entries in several different categories, including |
|
|
chicken, pork ribs, and brisket; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, In addition to the barbecue competition, the |
|
|
Watermelon Festival offers attendees a variety of family-friendly |
|
|
activities, such as watermelon-eating and seed-spitting contests, |
|
|
rides, live music performances, and food and craft vendors; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The City of Alamo Watermelon Festival and BBQ |
|
|
Cook-off is a showcase for excellent barbecue and a popular |
|
|
gathering for people of all ages, and it promises to be a source of |
|
|
fond memories for all who attend; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby commemorate the annual City of Alamo Watermelon |
|
|
Festival and BBQ Cook-off and extend to the event's organizers and |
|
|
participants sincere best wishes for an enjoyable and memorable |
|
|
experience. |
