R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Waxahachie High School boys' basketball team
  enjoyed an outstanding 2020-2021 campaign, advancing all the way to
  the Region II championship game of the University Interscholastic
  League 6A playoffs; and
         WHEREAS, During the regular season, the Indians racked up 16
  wins against just two losses and claimed the District 11-6A crown;
  they continued to excel in the playoffs, dispatching Belton and
  Rockwall High Schools and recording a commanding 78-67 victory over
  Killeen Ellison in the regional quarterfinals; and
         WHEREAS, Waxahachie took the floor against Cypress Woods High
  in the regional semifinals, and once again, the Indians were
  unstoppable; asserting their dominance from the opening tip-off to
  the final buzzer, they triumphed 84-50 to reach the 6A regional
  finale for the first time in program history; that contest featured
  a rematch with the Duncanville team that Waxahachie had defeated in
  an overtime game in January; the Indians turned in a valiant effort
  in the playoff showdown, delivering a furious second-half rally,
  but ultimately fell short to end the year with a 20-3 record; and
         WHEREAS, The Indians received valuable contributions over
  the course of the season from each member of the roster: D. J.
  Pigford, Jordan Davis, Dmarion Callier, V'Zarion Roberson, Jalen
  Lake, Prince Banks, Matthew Green, Kambren Drummer, Preston Hodge,
  Christian O'Donell, C. J. Noland, Montez Young, Jacob Watson,
  Darkaun King, and JH'Marques Head; these determined
  student-athletes were ably guided by head coach Greg Gober and his
  assistants, Colton Gober, Anthony Dees, and Cody Heil; additional
  support was provided by managers Ryan Butler, Johnny D'Avila, and
  Stevie Honrud; and
         WHEREAS, The talented and hardworking members of the
  Waxahachie High School boys' basketball team set a new standard of
  achievement with their thrilling playoff run, and they are a source
  of great pride for their fellow students and their many supporters
  in the community; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Waxahachie High School boys'
  basketball team on its success during the 2020-2021 season and
  extend to the team's players, coaches, and staff sincere best
  wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
