R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The passing of Sherilyn Sue Svien of Stephenville on |
|
February 1, 2021, at the age of 65, has profoundly saddened the |
|
family and many dear friends of this beloved woman; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born on May 12, 1955, to James and Sue Greek, the |
|
former Sherilyn Sue Greek grew up with the companionship of a |
|
brother, Stephen, and a sister, Jamie; she graduated from Abilene |
|
Christian University, and she resided in Stephenville for much of |
|
her life; for 33 years, she enjoyed a successful career as a |
|
certified public accountant with the firm of Boucher, Morgan & |
|
Young, and she further benefited her community through her 20 years |
|
of volunteer work with the Meals on Wheels organization, which she |
|
served as treasurer; and |
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Svien was the devoted wife of Leonard Douglas |
|
Svien, the mayor of Stephenville, and the caring mother of two |
|
daughters, Erin and Kimberly; later in life, she was further |
|
blessed with three grandchildren, Blakeley, Brady, and Everly, and |
|
she treasured the time she spent with her loved ones more than |
|
anything else; and |
|
WHEREAS, An active member of Graham Street Church of Christ, |
|
Ms. Svien found a great deal of guidance and comfort in her faith; |
|
she remained strong in her convictions as she fought a courageous |
|
six-year battle with cancer, and even as she faced an array of |
|
medical challenges, she embraced the joys of living and continued |
|
to be as kind, supportive, and encouraging as ever to those around |
|
her; fond of traveling, she cherished the memories she made on trips |
|
to Kenya, Italy, Germany, Austria, France, Great Britain, and |
|
locations all over the United States, and she was also an avid |
|
crafter who enjoyed making items such as wreaths, jewelry, |
|
paintings, and glass ornaments for her family and friends; and |
|
WHEREAS, Those fortunate enough to have known Sherilyn Svien |
|
will remember the way she touched their lives with her compassion, |
|
her generosity, and her abiding faith, and she will forever hold a |
|
treasured place in their hearts; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Sherilyn Sue Svien |
|
and extend deepest condolences to the members of her family: to her |
|
husband, Leonard Douglas Svien; to her daughters, Erin Sissell and |
|
her husband, Dennis, and Kimberly Boyd and her husband, T. J.; to |
|
her grandchildren, Blakeley and Brady Sissell and Everly Boyd; to |
|
her brother, Stephen Greek, and his wife, Claudia; to her sister, |
|
Jamie Bacon, and her husband, Terry; to her father-in-law, Doug |
|
Svien; to her sisters-in-law, Donna Svien and Diana Reynolds and |
|
her husband, Gary; to her many nieces and nephews; and to her other |
|
relatives and friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Sherilyn |
|
Sue Svien. |
