R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Family and friends suffered an unimaginable loss
  with the tragic passing of Tony Evans Jr. of Lancaster on April 11,
  2021, at the age of 17; and
         WHEREAS, The cherished son of Tony and Aretha Evans, Tony
  Evans was born in Dallas on June 4, 2003; he excelled as a member of
  the track, baseball, and football teams at Lancaster High School,
  and he gained widespread acclaim on the gridiron; during his senior
  season in 2020, he racked up 268 receiving yards and four touchdowns
  to help the Tigers to win the district championship and advance to
  the playoffs; his abilities drew the attention of college scouts,
  and he received a full athletic scholarship to play football at the
  University of Wyoming; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Evans distinguished himself as a hard worker and
  a natural leader who supported and encouraged his teammates; he
  loved singing and driving, and he had a remarkable way of lifting
  the spirits of everyone around him with his outgoing personality
  and delightful sense of humor; throughout his life, he drew
  strength from his Christian faith; and
         WHEREAS, Although his days were far too few, the joy and
  vibrancy with which Tony Evans lived his life will serve to comfort
  and inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him, and they
  will forever hold him close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Tony Evans Jr. and
  extend deepest condolences to his family and friends; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Tony Evans
  Jr.
