R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Family and friends suffered an unimaginable loss |
|
with the tragic passing of Tony Evans Jr. of Lancaster on April 11, |
|
2021, at the age of 17; and |
|
WHEREAS, The cherished son of Tony and Aretha Evans, Tony |
|
Evans was born in Dallas on June 4, 2003; he excelled as a member of |
|
the track, baseball, and football teams at Lancaster High School, |
|
and he gained widespread acclaim on the gridiron; during his senior |
|
season in 2020, he racked up 268 receiving yards and four touchdowns |
|
to help the Tigers to win the district championship and advance to |
|
the playoffs; his abilities drew the attention of college scouts, |
|
and he received a full athletic scholarship to play football at the |
|
University of Wyoming; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Evans distinguished himself as a hard worker and |
|
a natural leader who supported and encouraged his teammates; he |
|
loved singing and driving, and he had a remarkable way of lifting |
|
the spirits of everyone around him with his outgoing personality |
|
and delightful sense of humor; throughout his life, he drew |
|
strength from his Christian faith; and |
|
WHEREAS, Although his days were far too few, the joy and |
|
vibrancy with which Tony Evans lived his life will serve to comfort |
|
and inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him, and they |
|
will forever hold him close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Tony Evans Jr. and |
|
extend deepest condolences to his family and friends; and, be it |
|
further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Tony Evans |
|
Jr. |
