R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Residents of Rockwall are gathering at Tate Farms on
  June 12, 2021, to celebrate Texas Pie Fest; and
         WHEREAS, In 2019, the event was established by Brittany
  Hardin, proprietor of Bonafide Betties Pie Company, and Melissa
  Tate, who owns Tate Farms along with her husband; and
         WHEREAS, The inaugural Pie Fest got off to a chilly start when
  a severe spring cold front swept in; as temperatures plummeted into
  the 30s, a determined crowd forged on despite all obstacles, buying
  up all the pie; and
         WHEREAS, While the opportunity to consume pie is reason
  enough to convene, the festival also includes elements of
  competition; pie eating and pie baking contests will put the skill
  and appetites of both children and adults to the test, and the event
  will feature a vintage car and truck show and a display of custom
  motorcycles and mini-bikes; and
         WHEREAS, Texas Pie Fest provides fun and fellowship for
  Rockwall residents and visitors alike, and this year's gathering
  promises to be a source of fond memories for those who attend; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
  Legislature hereby recognize June 12, 2021, as Texas Pie Fest Day
  and extend to all those participating sincere best wishes for an
  enjoyable event; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the festival organizers as an expression of high
  regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
