R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Senior Officer David Gonzalez retired from the
  Corpus Christi Police Department on January 29, 2021, drawing to a
  close an outstanding career in law enforcement that spanned 35
  years; and
         WHEREAS, A veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard, David Gonzalez
  was hired by the Corpus Christi Police Department in August 1985;
  after attending the police academy and completing his field
  training, he was assigned to the patrol division; through the
  years, he served the department in numerous capacities, including
  as a field training officer, as a member of the department's SWAT
  team, and as an investigator in the narcotics and vice division; he
  also served on joint task forces with the DEA and FBI and with the
  U.S. Secret Service Dignitary Protection Detail; he retired as an
  investigator with the organized crime unit; and
         WHEREAS, Officer Gonzalez has been the recipient of numerous
  honors over the course of his tenure; in addition to receiving a
  departmental commendation for his contributions to the Internet
  Crimes Against Children program, he has been recognized by the DEA,
  FBI, U.S. Secret Service, and U.S. Attorney's Office for the
  Southern District of Texas; and
         WHEREAS, Through his skill, professionalism, and deep
  commitment to public safety, David Gonzalez has earned the lasting
  respect of his colleagues and fellow citizens alike, and he may
  indeed reflect with pride on his contributions; now, therefore, be
  it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Senior Officer David Gonzalez on
  his retirement from the Corpus Christi Police Department and extend
  to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Officer Gonzalez as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
