R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The citizens of Mason County lost a beloved resident |
|
with the death of G. Stanley Toeppich on February 2, 2021, at the |
|
age of 87; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born to O. A. and Nell Toeppich on June 20, 1933, in |
|
Mason, Stanley Toeppich graduated from Mason High School in 1951; |
|
he attended Tarleton State University for two years before |
|
enlisting in the U.S. Army, and he later returned to college to earn |
|
a degree in agricultural education from Texas A&M University; and |
|
WHEREAS, After teaching vocational agriculture for a couple |
|
of years in San Saba, Mr. Toeppich joined the USDA Soil |
|
Conservation Service, where he worked for nearly three decades; in |
|
1990, he retired to his ranch in Mason County and went on to raise an |
|
abundance of champion steers and heifers; an expert marksman, he |
|
was on the rifle team during his time in the military, and he |
|
continued to hone his skills throughout his life, taking down a |
|
17-point buck at the age of 87; and |
|
WHEREAS, Active in his community, Mr. Toeppich served on the |
|
board of the Mason County Soil and Water Conservation District for a |
|
quarter of a century; moreover, he was elected as the Mason County |
|
commissioner for Precinct 3 in January 2001, an office he held until |
|
December 2016; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Toeppich shared a rewarding union with his wife, |
|
Carolyn, whom he married on November 26, 1955; he took great pride |
|
in his three children, Scott, Bruce, and Caryl, and with the passing |
|
years, he had the privilege of seeing his family grow to include |
|
four grandchildren, Steven, Stuart, Mary, and Shelby, and four |
|
great-grandchildren; and |
|
WHEREAS, While the death of Stanley Toeppich brings |
|
immeasurable sorrow to his family and friends, he leaves behind a |
|
record of service that will long be treasured by all those who held |
|
him dear; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of G. Stanley Toeppich |
|
and extend sincere condolences to his loved ones; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Stanley |
|
Toeppich. |
