R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The passing of Cosmo Frank Guido on April 1, 2020, at
  the age of 97, brought a tremendous loss to his family, his friends,
  and the San Antonio community; and
         WHEREAS, A native of San Antonio, Cosmo Guido was born to
  Louis and Florence Guido on October 8, 1922, and he graduated from
  Jefferson High School in 1940; answering his nation's call to duty,
  he served with the U.S. Army during World War II and then resumed
  his studies at Texas A&M University, where he obtained a civil
  engineering degree in 1944; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Guido returned to San Antonio to partner with
  his father and uncle at Guido Brothers Construction Company, and he
  operated the Guido Lumber Company from 1947 through 1955;
  ultimately, he took the helm of Guido Companies and led many
  high-profile construction projects, including the completion of
  multiple HemisFair '68 sites and the restoration of the Alamo and
  San Fernando Cathedral; and
         WHEREAS, Highly respected by his peers, Mr. Guido was
  director and president of the National Lumber Dealers Association,
  the San Antonio Chapter of Associated General Contractors of
  America, and the San Antonio Builders Exchange; he mentored many
  members of his profession and was honored with such accolades as the
  Polly Krueger Award from the San Antonio A&M Club and the Robert
  H. H. Hugman Award from the San Antonio tourism industry; and
         WHEREAS, Above all, Mr. Guido treasured time spent with his
  loved ones; he shared a rewarding marriage with his wife, the late
  Toni Guido, that spanned six and a half decades, and he took great
  pride in his 4 children, Brazos, Tom, Florence, and Antoinette, and
  in his 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; he attended San
  Francesco di Paola, Church of the Blessed Sacrament, and St. Luke
  Catholic Church and served for half a century on the Archdiocese of
  San Antonio Building Board; and
         WHEREAS, Cosmo Guido earned the admiration of all who knew
  him, and he will remain a source of lasting inspiration to those he
  has left behind; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Cosmo Frank Guido and
  extend sincere condolences to his relatives and friends; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Cosmo
  Guido.
