R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Alexis Jackson has been named the 2020 Child |
|
Advocate of the Year by Child Advocates of Fort Bend; and |
|
WHEREAS, Founded in 1991, CAFB is a nonprofit agency that |
|
serves child victims of abuse and neglect by providing therapy and |
|
mental health services in addition to case management and clinical |
|
family advocacy; working in coordination with Court Appointed |
|
Special Advocates (CASA) and the Children's Advocacy Center, the |
|
agency has assisted nearly 19,000 children since its inception; and |
|
WHEREAS, Alexis Jackson began volunteering with CASA in 2016, |
|
and she has served children in the Infant and Toddler program as |
|
well as the Nurturing Education and Social Triumphs (NEST) program, |
|
which is focused on helping young people ages 6 to 13; this |
|
dedicated volunteer was the first in the organization to join both |
|
the Friends Council fundraising auxiliary group and the Volunteer |
|
Council, where she helps to provide support and mentorship for new |
|
volunteers; moreover, she is a lead member of the CAFB annual |
|
Christmas Home Tour and Gala; and |
|
WHEREAS, Alexis Jackson's dedication, compassion, and |
|
commitment to the children of Fort Bend County have made a positive |
|
and lasting difference in the lives of many area residents, and she |
|
is indeed deserving of this notable accolade; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Alexis Jackson on being named the |
|
2020 Child Advocate of the Year by Child Advocates of Fort Bend and |
|
extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success in her |
|
important work; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Ms. Jackson as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
