R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Gregory Harrington has been named the 2021 Parent
  Advocate of the Year by the Texas Public Charter Schools
  Association; and
         WHEREAS, With 760 member schools throughout the state, TPCSA
  supports policies that allow charter schools to continue providing
  a high quality education to the more than 300,000 students they
  serve; the organization also equips charter school leaders,
  teachers, and parents to advocate for their own schools; and
         WHEREAS, Gregory Harrington is a member of the strategic
  planning committee for the Pflugerville Independent School
  District and the advisory board for the Harmony Science Academy
  charter school district, where one of his daughters is a student; he
  regularly meets with lawmakers in behalf of Central Texas parents,
  and he recently testified before the House Public Education
  Committee; moreover, he was a motivational speaker at the 2021
  TPCSA Parent Pep Rally; and
         WHEREAS, In addition to his advocacy efforts, Mr. Harrington
  has benefited students by founding a back-to-school parade and
  fundraiser to purchase supplies for children in need, and as a
  member of the National Society of Black Engineers, he arranged
  opportunities for local students to meet with professionals in the
  science, technology, engineering, and mathematics fields; he has
  also served as president of the Black Professional Alliance, and he
  is a graduate of Leadership Austin's Essential program; and
         WHEREAS, Gregory Harrington has worked tirelessly in behalf
  of Texas schoolchildren, and he may indeed reflect with pride on his
  many contributions; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Gregory Harrington on being named
  the 2021 Parent Advocate of the Year by the Texas Public Charter
  Schools Association and extend to him sincere best wishes for the
  future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Harrington as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
