R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Odis Jones was named city manager of Missouri City
  in July 2020; and
         WHEREAS, A Detroit native, Mr. Jones brings to his role more
  than two decades of experience in managing complex governmental
  operations and economic development organizations; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Jones holds a bachelor's degree in sociology
  from Central Michigan University and a master's degree in public
  administration from Western Michigan University; after beginning
  his career as special projects manager in Battle Creek, Michigan,
  he worked to elevate Obetz, Ohio, as a logistics hub and became
  president of the Urban Growth Corporation in Columbus, Ohio; he
  went on to serve as director of urban and site development for the
  New Jersey Economic Development Authority and then became economic
  development director for the City of Cincinnati; in 2013, he
  returned to his hometown as executive director of its Public
  Lighting Authority, tasked with restoring reliable illumination to
  city streets; he subsequently served as city manager of Hutto for
  years; and
         WHEREAS, A strong and dynamic leader, Odis Jones is committed
  to bringing progress and positive change to Missouri City, and his
  expertise and wide-ranging background are an asset to the
  community; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Odis Jones on his appointment as
  city manager of Missouri City and extend to him sincere best wishes
  for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Jones as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
