R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Carol Paret celebrated her 40th anniversary with
  Memorial Hermann Health System on May 11, 2021, and this occasion
  offers a welcome opportunity to pay tribute to her outstanding
  record of service to the largest not-for-profit health system in
  Southeast Texas; and
         WHEREAS, A native of Silsbee, Ms. Paret holds degrees from
  the University of Houston and The University of Texas School of
  Public Health; since joining MHHS, she has held a series of
  increasingly important roles within the organization, including
  leadership positions in the divisions of Facilities and Community
  Planning, Business Development, Continuing Medical Education,
  Physician Residency and Credentialing, Clinical Effectiveness,
  Privacy and Security, and Medical Records and Coding; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Paret currently serves as MHHS senior vice
  president, chief community health officer, and CEO of the system's
  Community Benefit Corporation, and she has worked tirelessly to
  ensure that the underserved and uninsured have access to essential
  health benefits; those efforts include finding ways to address the
  social determinants of health and facilitating collaborations
  between health care providers, government, business, and community
  stakeholders, all in order to secure access to health care for the
  most vulnerable within the Greater Houston community; in 1995, she
  oversaw the launch of the Memorial Hermann Health Centers for
  Schools program, which has established freestanding and mobile
  medical and dental clinics for nearly two million underserved
  public school children across five school districts; and
         WHEREAS, In addition to her work for MHHS, Ms. Paret has
  served on the boards of several noteworthy organizations, including
  El Centro de Corazón, Gateway to Care, and the Texas Health
  Institute, which honored her with the prestigious Fratis L. Duff
  Award in 2015; and
         WHEREAS, Today, the employees and affiliated physicians of
  Memorial Hermann Health System serve millions of patients
  through 17 hospitals and more than 300 care delivery sites, and
  over the course of the past four decades, Carol Paret has played a
  vital role in the system's success through her visionary leadership
  and transformative approach to health care delivery; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Carol Paret on her four decades of
  service to the Memorial Hermann Health System and extend to her
  sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Paret as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
