R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, An exemplary student received well-deserved
  recognition when Andrea Daniella Mata was named a University of
  Texas at El Paso Top Ten Senior for 2021; and
         WHEREAS, Presented by the UTEP Alumni Association, the award
  recognizes the university's most promising graduating or recently
  graduated seniors; honorees are chosen on the basis of multiple
  criteria, including academic achievement, involvement, leadership,
  and service, both in the community and on campus; and
         WHEREAS, Andrea Mata has demonstrated a strong work ethic
  during her years at UTEP, where she has majored in sociology and
  earned such impressive awards as an Archer Fellowship and
  scholarships from the BUILDing SCHOLARS program, the Virginia G.
  Banos Endowed Scholarship Fund, and Houston Endowment, among
  others; and
         WHEREAS, In addition to pursuing her studies, Ms. Mata has
  completed several research fellowships and served as an intern for
  U.S. Representative Beto O'Rourke; in the fall of 2021, she will be
  attending Michigan State University on a full scholarship to earn a
  Ph.D. in special education, and she hopes to one day establish a
  nonprofit learning center for El Paso students with learning
  disabilities; and
         WHEREAS, Through the dedication she has demonstrated in all
  her endeavors, Andrea Daniella Mata has built a strong foundation
  for continued achievement, and she is indeed deserving of this
  prestigious accolade; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Andrea Daniella Mata on her receipt
  of a 2021 Top Ten Seniors Award from the UTEP Alumni Association and
  extend to her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Mata as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
