R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Grayle James completed her noteworthy nine-year |
|
tenure as a trustee of the Fort Bend Independent School District in |
|
May 2021; and |
|
WHEREAS, Elected to the first of three terms in 2012, |
|
Ms. James served for two years as president of the board and went on |
|
to serve as secretary; she also chaired both the Vision and Planning |
|
and the Policy Committees, and she earned master trustee |
|
certification from the Texas Association of School Boards; in 2017, |
|
the board received the H-E-B Excellence in Education School Board |
|
Award, and it received a favorable program management audit in |
|
2019; and |
|
WHEREAS, Ms. James is a director for the Gulf Coast Area |
|
Association of School Boards; in addition, she is a founding member |
|
and vice president of Go Public for the Gulf Coast region; before |
|
joining the school board, she volunteered for years at a number of |
|
district schools, and she served on several FBISD committees, among |
|
them the Parent Advisory, Health Advisory, and Discipline Advisory |
|
Committees; she brought to her many roles experience gained during |
|
her years as a high school science teacher in California; and |
|
WHEREAS, Dedicated to area youth, Ms. James has served on the |
|
board of Fort Bend Cares, and she has given generously of her time |
|
and talents to such organizations as the Girl Scouts of San Jacinto |
|
Council and the Sugar Land Girls Softball Association; she and her |
|
husband, David, are the parents of three FBISD graduates; and |
|
WHEREAS, Grayle James has provided outstanding leadership |
|
throughout her time on the school board, and her contributions have |
|
earned her the admiration and gratitude of her fellow citizens; |
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby honor Grayle James for her exemplary service as |
|
a trustee of the Fort Bend Independent School District and extend to |
|
her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Ms. James as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
