R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Chief Warrant Officer Three Marlene Angelica Rivera |
|
retired from the U.S. Army on October 11, 2020, drawing to a close |
|
an outstanding military career that spanned more than three |
|
decades; and |
|
WHEREAS, The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Teodoro Mendoza and a |
|
native of Eagle Pass, Marlene Rivera enlisted on December 30, 1986, |
|
and she served most of her exemplary 33-year tenure in the army as a |
|
legal administrator with the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General's |
|
Corps; she also served two deployments overseas, including one to |
|
Bosnia and Herzegovina in support of Operation Joint Endeavor and |
|
the other to Balad, Iraq, in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom II; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Chief Warrant Officer Rivera's final assignments |
|
included a nominative position at the U.S. Army Reserve Legal |
|
Command, serving as executive officer of Headquarters and |
|
Headquarters Company in Gaithersburg, Maryland, and she completed |
|
her career in the army with the JAG 22nd Legal Operations Detachment |
|
at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston; her awards and |
|
decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal and the |
|
Parachutist Badge; and |
|
WHEREAS, In all her endeavors, Chief Warrant Officer Rivera |
|
benefits from the love and support of her two sons, Ryan and |
|
Brandon; and |
|
WHEREAS, Marlene Rivera's dedication, professionalism, and |
|
commitment to excellence have earned her the respect and admiration |
|
of all who know her, and she may indeed reflect with pride on a |
|
career well spent as she embarks on the next exciting chapter of her |
|
life; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Chief Warrant Officer Three |
|
Marlene Angelica Rivera on her retirement from the U.S. Army and |
|
extend to her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Chief Warrant Officer Rivera as an expression of high |
|
regard by the Texas House of Representatives. |
