R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Benjamin Reid Jowers has ably served his fellow
  Texans as assistant committee director for the House Homeland
  Security and Public Safety Committee during the 87th Legislative
  Session; and
         WHEREAS, Reid Jowers has provided vital assistance to the
  committee's chair, State Representative James White, and its other
  members as they have dealt with issues related to law enforcement,
  crime prevention, security services, and homeland security; and
         WHEREAS, Hailing from Beaumont, Mr. Jowers earned a
  bachelor's degree in journalism from The University of Texas at
  Austin as well as a certificate in security studies from the
  Clements Center for National Security; he is currently pursuing a
  master's degree in global policy studies at UT's Lyndon B. Johnson
  School of Public Affairs; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Jowers has completed internships with the
  Association for Diplomatic Studies and Training, the Jefferson
  County Sheriff's Office, and the Austin Chronicle, and he has
  served as a reporter with Reporting Texas and as a clerk with the
  Bernsen Law Firm; and
         WHEREAS, Through his skill, professionalism, and commitment
  to excellence, Reid Jowers has made significant contributions to
  the Homeland Security and Public Safety Committee, and he is indeed
  deserving of recognition for his outstanding record of achievement;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Benjamin Reid Jowers for his service as
  assistant committee director for the House Homeland Security and
  Public Safety Committee in the office of State Representative James
  White and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success in
  all his endeavors; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Jowers as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
