R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, National Hospital Week took place from May 9 to 15,
  2021, offering a welcome opportunity to honor the medical
  institutions within Texas Medical Center that deliver
  compassionate, innovative, high-quality care to patients in the
  Greater Houston area; and
         WHEREAS, Every year, National Hospital Week is recognized to
  express gratitude toward the dedicated and highly skilled
  physicians, nurses, administrators, and other personnel who staff
  the hospitals across our nation and state; the observance holds
  special significance in 2021, as health care workers have
  heroically stood on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic for
  more than a year; and
         WHEREAS, Texas Medical Center is home to some of the most
  brilliant experts in their fields of medicine; TMC spans around 50
  million square feet and employs more than 100,000 people, while
  receiving approximately 10 million patient visits each year; the
  complex features both the world's largest children's hospital and
  largest cancer hospital, and it offers outstanding labor and
  delivery services, assisting in approximately 26,000 births
  annually; over 180,000 surgeries are also performed at TMC
  hospitals every year, including more than 13,000 heart surgeries;
  and
         WHEREAS, Through the hard work and considerable expertise of
  its employees, Texas Medical Center continues to build upon its
  international reputation for excellence, and the people of Houston
  are fortunate to have access to such state-of-the-art care at a
  world-renowned medical complex; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay special tribute to the hospitals within
  Texas Medical Center and extend to their medical personnel and
  staff sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Texas Medical Center as an expression of high regard by
  the Texas House of Representatives.
