R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Mackenzie Amaya of Woodrow Wilson High School in |
|
|
Dallas has been named a 2021 Star Scholar; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Established in 2020, the Star Scholars program is a |
|
|
collaborative effort between Reliant and the Dallas Cowboys that |
|
|
honors student-athletes for their exemplary leadership, academic |
|
|
and athletic achievements, and commitment to their communities; six |
|
|
scholarships, each in the amount of $10,000, were awarded to |
|
|
graduating seniors from the Dallas, Arlington, and Frisco |
|
|
Independent School Districts who will begin working toward a |
|
|
bachelor's degree at a four-year college or university in the fall |
|
|
of 2021; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Amaya is an International Baccalaureate scholar |
|
|
at Woodrow Wilson High, and she has also earned recognition as an |
|
|
outstanding member of the girls' varsity cross country, basketball, |
|
|
and softball teams; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Exciting challenges and opportunities await this |
|
|
notable young Texan, and she may indeed take great pride in her |
|
|
accomplishments as she embarks on a future bright with promise; |
|
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Mackenzie Amaya on being named a |
|
|
2021 Star Scholar and extend to her sincere best wishes for the |
|
|
future; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Amaya as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
