R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Millard House II, a veteran education professional |
|
|
with nearly three decades of experience, has been named the new |
|
|
superintendent of the Houston Independent School District; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A native of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Mr. House earned his |
|
|
bachelor's degree from the University of Montevallo in Alabama and |
|
|
his master's degree in school administration from Northeastern |
|
|
State University in Oklahoma; he also attended and graduated from |
|
|
the Fisher School Leadership Program housed at the University of |
|
|
California, Berkeley's Haas School of Business; after beginning his |
|
|
career as a teacher in 1995, he transitioned into administration |
|
|
and eventually rose to the position of deputy superintendent of |
|
|
Tulsa public schools; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. House served as chief operating officer for the |
|
|
Charlotte-Mecklenburg school district in North Carolina before |
|
|
taking a job in the nonprofit sector as an executive consultant and |
|
|
executive director of the organization New Leaders Charlotte; in |
|
|
2017, he returned to public education when he was appointed as |
|
|
director of schools for the Clarksville-Montgomery County School |
|
|
System in Tennessee, where he served with distinction before |
|
|
accepting the superintendent position with HISD; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Millard House has upheld the highest standards of |
|
|
his profession, and the students, teachers, and staff of Houston |
|
|
ISD schools are sure to benefit greatly from the skills and |
|
|
experience that he brings to his new role as superintendent; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Millard House II on his appointment |
|
|
as superintendent of the Houston Independent School District and |
|
|
extend to him sincere best wishes as he takes on his new |
|
|
responsibilities; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. House as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
