R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Dr. Roosevelt Nivens II has been named
  superintendent of the Lamar Consolidated Independent School
  District; and
         WHEREAS, An educator with 24 years of experience, Dr. Nivens
  began his career as a teacher in the Dallas Independent School
  District, and he later joined Lancaster ISD, where he served as
  assistant principal, principal, and assistant superintendent of
  achievement and organizational management; in 2015, he became
  superintendent of Community ISD, and under his leadership, the
  district earned an A rating from the Texas Education Agency and
  increased the number of students earning college credits through
  Advanced Placement Exams and dual credit classes, with 10 percent
  of students earning an associate's degree upon graduation; he also
  expanded the district's career and technical education programs and
  professional certifications; and
         WHEREAS, Dr. Nivens holds a bachelor of science degree from
  Liberty University and master's and doctoral degrees in education
  from Texas A&M University-Commerce; in all his endeavors, he enjoys
  the love and support of his wife, Karla; and
         WHEREAS, Throughout his career as an educator, Roosevelt
  Nivens has upheld the highest standards of his profession, and he is
  sure to bring to his new position equal commitment and energy; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. Roosevelt Nivens II on his
  selection as superintendent of the Lamar Consolidated Independent
  School District and extend to him sincere best wishes for a
  successful tenure; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Dr. Nivens as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
