R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, MacKenzie McCulloch, a senior at Woodrow Wilson High |
|
|
School in Dallas, has been selected as a member of the 2021 5A |
|
|
All-State Band by the Texas Music Educators Association; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The TMEA All-State designation is the highest honor |
|
|
a Texas high school music student can receive; beginning each fall, |
|
|
more than 70,000 students from across the state begin the audition |
|
|
process by playing for a panel of judges at the regional level; |
|
|
select musicians advance to compete in eight TMEA area contests, |
|
|
where the highest-ranked performers qualify for the All-State Band; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ms. McCulloch turned in an exemplary showing at the |
|
|
Region 20 tryout to move on to the 5A Area Wind Ensemble audition; |
|
|
making her third-straight All-Area appearance, she placed first |
|
|
among the field of 20 competitors, becoming the first individual |
|
|
player from her high school to be named to the All-State Band in 35 |
|
|
years; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Selection to an All-State Band reflects exceptional |
|
|
skill and an unwavering commitment to excellence, and this gifted |
|
|
young Texan may indeed take pride in this notable achievement; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate MacKenzie McCulloch on her |
|
|
selection to the Texas Music Educators Association 5A All-State |
|
|
Band and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success; |
|
|
and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. McCulloch as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
