R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Deputy Chief Larry D. Simmons is retiring from the |
|
Grand Prairie Police Department on June 4, 2021, after 32 years of |
|
dedicated service to the agency; and |
|
WHEREAS, An army veteran, Larry Simmons began his career with |
|
the Grand Prairie Police Department on January 23, 1989; over the |
|
succeeding years, he worked in many fields within the agency and |
|
rose through the ranks from police officer to sergeant to |
|
lieutenant; in 2014, he was appointed deputy chief, becoming the |
|
first African American to hold that post in the department's |
|
history; and |
|
WHEREAS, For more than three decades, Larry Simmons has |
|
exemplified the highest ideals of the law enforcement profession |
|
and contributed immeasurably to the safety and well-being of Grand |
|
Prairie residents, and he may indeed reflect with pride on his |
|
notable record of achievement; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Deputy Chief Larry D. Simmons on |
|
his retirement from the Grand Prairie Police Department and extend |
|
to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Deputy Chief Simmons as an expression of high regard by |
|
the Texas House of Representatives. |
