R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Family and friends will long cherish their memories |
|
|
of Guadalupe M. Peña of Rio Grande City, who passed away on May 3, |
|
|
2021, at the age of 83; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Guadalupe Peña was born on November 2, 1937, in |
|
|
Hebbronville; a graduate of Hebbronville High School, he went on to |
|
|
earn a bachelor's degree in biology from Texas A&I University and a |
|
|
master's degree from Pan American University; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Answering his nation's call to duty, Mr. Peña served |
|
|
in Libya as a member of the U.S. Air Force; in the course of his |
|
|
career as an educator, he worked for the Rio Grande City |
|
|
Consolidated Independent School District for more than 35 years; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Peña belonged to the Texas Retired Teachers |
|
|
Association and the Knights of Columbus; he was also a parishioner |
|
|
at Immaculate Conception Church; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Peña enjoyed the love and |
|
|
support of his wife of 52 years, Diana, and he took great pride in |
|
|
his children, Deanna, Guadalupe, and Ernesto; with the passing |
|
|
years, he had the pleasure of seeing his family grow to include |
|
|
eight grandchildren, Andrew, Daniel, Benjamin, Julianna, Hunter, |
|
|
Kamryn, Abbylyn, and Jonathan; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Dedicated to his family, his faith, and his country, |
|
|
Guadalupe Peña earned the lasting respect and admiration of all who |
|
|
were privileged to know him; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Guadalupe M. Peña and |
|
|
extend sincere condolences to those he leaves behind; and, be it |
|
|
further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Guadalupe |
|
|
Peña. |
