R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Family and friends will long cherish their memories |
|
of Joseph R. Paton of Freer, who passed away on January 19, 2021, at |
|
the age of 90; and |
|
WHEREAS, The son of Lockiel and Roberta Paton, Joe Paton was |
|
born on October 31, 1930, in Mexia and grew up with two brothers, J. |
|
D. and Roger; he attended Texas A&I University and received a |
|
bachelor's degree in business administration; and |
|
WHEREAS, Answering his nation's call to duty, Mr. Paton was a |
|
first lieutenant in the U.S. Army, and he served in New Mexico and |
|
France, earning a National Defense Service Medal; and |
|
WHEREAS, Over the course of his civilian career, Mr. Paton |
|
worked as a senior production foreman for Conoco, and he also |
|
ranched for most of his life; a valued member of his community, he |
|
was a 32nd Degree Mason; and |
|
WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Paton enjoyed the love and |
|
support of his wife, Corene "Coco" Paton, with whom he shared 67 |
|
years; he took great pride in their sons, Joseph, Vance, Kurt, and |
|
Grant, and with the passing years, he had the pleasure of seeing his |
|
family grow to include eight grandchildren, Blake, Victoria, |
|
Alexandria, Sarita, Selina, Heather, Jennifer, and Lisa, and three |
|
great-grandchildren; and |
|
WHEREAS, Known for his devotion to his family as well as for |
|
his adventurous spirit and mischievous sense of humor, Joe Paton |
|
lived a full and generous life, and he will forever hold a special |
|
place in the hearts of those he has left behind; now, therefore, be |
|
it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Joseph R. Paton and |
|
extend sincere condolences to all who mourn his passing; and, be it |
|
further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Joe Paton. |
