R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Family and friends will long cherish their memories |
|
of Juan Roberto Garcia of Falfurrias, who passed away on November 4, |
|
2020, at the age of 76; and |
|
WHEREAS, The son of Raul and Marina Martinez Garcia, Juan |
|
Garcia was born on August 3, 1944, in Rio Grande City, and grew up |
|
with four siblings, Javier, Raul, Francisco, and Alma; and |
|
WHEREAS, Answering his nation's call to duty, Mr. Garcia |
|
served in the U.S. Army; he was a proud veteran of the Vietnam War |
|
and received many honors, including the National Defense Service |
|
Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal; |
|
after concluding his military service at the rank of corporal, he |
|
worked as a mechanical engineer for more than 29 years with the |
|
Corpus Christi Army Depot; he was also a rancher and loved attending |
|
rodeos; and |
|
WHEREAS, Active in his community, Mr. Garcia was a member of |
|
the VFW and gave generously to veterans support organizations; in |
|
addition, he served on the Brooks County Fair Association Board and |
|
as president of the FFA Booster Club during the late 1980s and early |
|
1990s; and |
|
WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Garcia enjoyed the love |
|
and support of his wife, Angelica, and he took great pride in his |
|
children, Juan, Annessa, and Jessica; with the passing years, he |
|
had the pleasure of seeing his family grow to include seven |
|
grandchildren, Krizia, Kayla, Kody, Juan, Jose, Jacob, and Jenise, |
|
and three great-grandchildren, J'La, Kezelle, and Kyra; and |
|
WHEREAS, Those who were privileged to share in this esteemed |
|
man's love and friendship will always remember him with great |
|
admiration and affection; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Juan Roberto Garcia |
|
and extend heartfelt sympathy to his family and many friends; and, |
|
be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Juan |
|
Garcia. |
