R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A full and productive life drew to a close with the
  passing of Dillard H. Wied of Hebbronville on October 24, 2019, at
  the age of 92; and
         WHEREAS, The son of Arthur and Annie Wied, Dillard Wied was
  born in Crestonio on December 24, 1926, and grew up on the family
  farm with four siblings, Franklin, Bonnie, Herbert, and Perry; he
  continued to farm and ranch after graduating from high school and
  served his country in the U.S. Army; and
         WHEREAS, Following his time in the military, Mr. Wied
  partnered with his brother Perry in farming and ranching, and he
  also owned a welding shop; he later worked on a logging truck for
  Schlumberger before starting a water well drilling and service
  company; in 1971, he opened Wied Hardware, which he ran until his
  retirement, and afterward, he continued to ranch for a number of
  years; and
         WHEREAS, For almost four decades, Mr. Wied served as a
  director of First National Bank; he was also active in his community
  as a member of Texas Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Jim Wells
  County Farm Bureau; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Wied shared a rewarding marriage with his wife,
  Louise, before her passing in 2004; he was the proud father of three
  children, Mark, Annette, and Franklin, and through the years, he
  was further blessed with seven grandchildren, Ann, Justin, Fallon,
  Cameron, Christopher, Meghan, and Kasey, as well as two
  great-grandchildren, Kylie and Kelsea; and
         WHEREAS, Although Dillard Wied is greatly missed, he has left
  his loved ones with a wealth of memories that they will forever
  cherish; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Dillard H. Wied and
  extend sincere condolences to all who mourn his passing; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Dillard
  Wied.
