R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the
  passing of Leonel M. Saenz of Realitos on July 9, 2020, at the age of
  85; and
         WHEREAS, Leonel Saenz was the son of Abdon and Romelia M.
  Saenz, and he grew up with the companionship of eight siblings,
  Jesus, Gilberto, Perfecto, Roel, Audon, Hector, Raymundo, and
  Trinidad; after graduating from Benavides High School in 1955, he
  answered his nation's call to duty and joined the United States
  Army; following his active service, he remained a member of the
  National Guard for several years; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Saenz enjoyed a rewarding career with the Texas
  Department of Transportation that spanned nearly three decades
  until his retirement in 1993; during that time, he played softball
  in a league in Hebbronville, and he earned the lifelong nickname of
  "El Gallo"; and
         WHEREAS, In 1959, Mr. Saenz married his high school
  sweetheart, Minnie, and the couple shared a fulfilling union of 60
  years; he took great pride in their three children, Leonel,
  Melissa, and Alberto, and with the passing years, he had the
  pleasure of seeing his family grow to include nine grandchildren
  and five great-grandchildren; in retirement, he spent most of his
  time on his ranch, where he enjoyed tending to his cattle, working
  on projects, and hosting gatherings; he was an avid Dallas Cowboys
  fan, and he also loved hunting and watching boxing; and
         WHEREAS, Although Leonel Saenz is greatly missed, memories of
  his kindness and sunny disposition remain to comfort and inspire
  those he leaves behind; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Leonel M. Saenz and
  extend sincere condolences to all who mourn his passing; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Leonel
  Saenz.
