A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|

|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to authorizing cities to change the date on which their |
|
|
general election for officers is held. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 41.0052, Election Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subsection (f) to read as follows: |
|
|
(f) The governing body of a city may change the date on which |
|
|
it holds its general election for officers to the November uniform |
|
|
election date if the change is approved by at least two-thirds of |
|
|
the governing body. A change made under this section supersedes a |
|
|
city charter provision that requires a different general election |
|
|
date. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
