AN ACT
|
|
relating to requiring the parent of a student enrolled in a school |
|
district to provide and update a parent's contact information. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Chapter 26, Education Code, is amended by adding |
|
Section 26.0125 to read as follows: |
|
Sec. 26.0125. PARENT CONTACT INFORMATION REQUIRED. The |
|
parent of a student enrolled in a school district shall provide in |
|
writing to the district: |
|
(1) on enrollment of the student in the district and |
|
not later than two weeks after the beginning of each school year, |
|
the parent's address, phone number, and e-mail address; and |
|
(2) if the parent's contact information changes during |
|
the school year, not later than two weeks after the date the |
|
information changes, the parent's updated information. |
|
SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2021-2022 |
|
school year. |
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
