A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the requirement that the State Board of Veterinary |
|
|
Medical Examiners provide a copy of a complaint to the subject of |
|
|
the complaint. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 801.207, Occupations Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subsection (b-1) to read as follows: |
|
|
(b-1) Notwithstanding Subsection (b), the board shall |
|
|
provide a copy of each complaint to the license holder who is the |
|
|
subject of the complaint not later than the 14th day after the date |
|
|
the complaint is filed with the board, unless providing a copy of |
|
|
the complaint would jeopardize an investigation. The board may not |
|
|
require the license holder to request a copy of the complaint. |
|
|
SECTION 2. Section 801.207(b-1), Occupations Code, as added |
|
|
by this Act, applies only to a complaint filed with the State Board |
|
|
of Veterinary Medical Examiners on or after the effective date of |
|
|
this Act. A complaint filed with the board before the effective date |
|
|
of this Act is governed by the law in effect on the date the |
|
|
complaint was filed, and the former law is continued in effect for |
|
|
that purpose. |

|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
