A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to referenda on county property matters in certain |
|
|
counties. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 291.007, Local Government Code, is |
|
|
amended to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 291.007. NONBINDING REFERENDUM ON COUNTY PROPERTY |
|
|
MATTER IN CERTAIN COUNTIES. (a) This section applies only to a |
|
|
county with a population of: |
|
|
(1) less than 40,000; or |
|
|
(2) more than 300,000 and in which the most populous |
|
|
military base in this state is wholly or partly located. |
|
|
(b) The commissioners court of a county [with a population |
|
|
of less than 40,000] may order a nonbinding referendum in the county |
|
|
on any matter affecting county property. The referendum must be |
|
|
held on an authorized uniform election date as provided by Chapter |
|
|
41, Election Code. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
