A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the use of peace officers as attendance officers for |
|
|
school districts and open-enrollment charter schools. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 25.090, Education Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subsections (b-1) and amending Subsection (c) to read as |
|
|
follows: |
|
|
(b-1) In this section, "peace officer" includes a |
|
|
constable. |
|
|
(c) For services performed under this section by a peace |
|
|
officer, additional [Additional] compensation shall [may not] be |
|
|
paid from the funds of the county, independent school district, or |
|
|
open-enrollment charter school at a rate commensurate with the |
|
|
regular wages of the peace officer [for services performed under |
|
|
this section]. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
