A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to a supreme court rule, practice, or procedure. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 22.003, Government Code, is amended by |
|
|
amending Subsection (b) and adding Subsection (c) to read as |
|
|
follows: |
|
|
(b) Except as provided by Subsection (c), the [The] supreme |
|
|
court may make and enforce all necessary rules of practice and |
|
|
procedure, not inconsistent with the law, for the government of the |
|
|
supreme court and all other courts of the state to expedite the |
|
|
dispatch of business in those courts. |
|
|
(c) A rule, practice, or procedure made by the supreme court |
|
|
does not apply in a criminal case unless the rule, practice, or |
|
|
procedure has been approved by the presiding judge of the court of |
|
|
criminal appeals. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
