A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the entitlement of certain military veterans to obtain |
|
|
a nursing license by examination. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 301.253, Occupations Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subsection (h) to read as follows: |
|
|
(h) A military veteran as defined by Section 55.001 who |
|
|
served as a nurse in any branch of the armed forces of the United |
|
|
States is entitled to take the examination prescribed by the board |
|
|
one time without having to prove completion of a program of |
|
|
professional or vocational nursing education under Section |
|
|
301.157. The board shall waive the requirement that the person |
|
|
complete a program of nursing education as a prerequisite to |
|
|
obtaining a license if the person obtains a passing score on the |
|
|
examination. |

|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
