A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to required consultation with American Indian tribes |
|
|
before beginning certain projects with respect to the Alamo. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 31.451, Natural Resources Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Subsection (e) to read as follows: |
|
|
(e) The land office must consult with each American Indian |
|
|
tribe, including federally recognized tribes and local tribes that |
|
|
may not be officially recognized by the state or federal |
|
|
government, that has a historical connection to the Alamo or the |
|
|
area surrounding the Alamo complex before beginning any major |
|
|
project to preserve, maintain, restore, or improve the Alamo or |
|
|
Alamo complex. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
