A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to certain standardization in cybersecurity degree |
|
|
programs offered by public institutions of higher education. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter Z, Chapter 51, Education Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 51.981 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 51.981. CERTAIN STANDARDIZATION IN CYBERSECURITY |
|
|
DEGREE PROGRAMS. (a) In this section, "institution of higher |
|
|
education" has the meaning assigned by Section 61.003. |
|
|
(b) An institution of higher education that offers a degree |
|
|
program in cybersecurity shall ensure that the degree program is |
|
|
aligned with the National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education |
|
|
Workforce Framework for Cybersecurity. |
|
|
SECTION 2. Section 51.981, Education Code, as added by this |
|
|
Act, applies beginning with the 2022-2023 academic year. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
