SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Eddie Garner Clement, an esteemed member of the |
|
|
Paris, Texas, community and a friend to many, passed away on January |
|
|
19, 2021, at the age of 55; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The son of Ted Garner Clement and Carol Ann Clement, |
|
|
Eddie Clement was born on August 7, 1965, in Dallas and grew up in |
|
|
Duncanville with a sister, Eva; he completed his bachelor of |
|
|
business administration degree in management at The University of |
|
|
Texas at Arlington, where he made lasting friendships as a member of |
|
|
Phi Delta Theta and discovered his love of music and entertainment; |
|
|
through the years, he delighted in acting as DJ for any event and |
|
|
always knew exactly what to play to make everyone happy; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Clement embarked on a career with the Sonic |
|
|
Drive-In chain, and he was a member of the board of Lamar National |
|
|
Bank; giving generously of his time and expertise, he also served on |
|
|
the boards of numerous civic organizations, among them Denver |
|
|
Pyle's Children's Charities, the Lamar County Chamber of Commerce, |
|
|
the Lamar County Chapter of the American Red Cross, and the Boys & |
|
|
Girls Club of Paris, which included him on its Wall of Honor; he was |
|
|
a valued congregant of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church and a |
|
|
third-degree knight in the Knights of Columbus; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Devoted to his family, Mr. Clement shared a |
|
|
fulfilling marriage of 26 years with his wife, Monica Homer |
|
|
Clement, and he was the proud father of three children, Avery, |
|
|
Mollie, and Adam; in his free time, he liked a good round of golf, |
|
|
but above all, he enjoyed helping others in any way he could; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Eddie Clement lived a caring and purposeful life, |
|
|
and although he is deeply missed by those he left behind, they will |
|
|
forever cherish their memories of his warmth and kindness; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the 87th Legislature of the State of Texas |
|
|
hereby pay tribute to the life of Eddie Garner Clement and extend |
|
|
sincere condolences to all who mourn his passing; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
|
Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in memory of |
|
|
Eddie Garner Clement. |
