A JOINT RESOLUTION
|
|
proposing a constitutional amendment to prohibit this state or a |
|
political subdivision of this state from prohibiting or limiting a |
|
religious service conducted by a religious organization. |
|
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Article I, Texas Constitution, is amended by |
|
adding Section 6-a to read as follows: |
|
Sec. 6-a. This state or a political subdivision of this |
|
state may not enact, adopt, or issue a statute, order, |
|
proclamation, decision, or rule that prohibits or limits religious |
|
services, including those conducted in churches, congregations, |
|
and places of worship in this state by a religious organization |
|
established to support and serve the propagation of a sincerely |
|
held religious belief. |
|
SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be |
|
submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 2, 2021. |
|
The ballot shall be printed to permit voting for or against the |
|
proposition: "The constitutional amendment to prohibit this state |
|
or a political subdivision of this state from prohibiting or |
|
limiting a religious service conducted by a religious |
|
organization." |
